Abstract

Food delivery platforms (e.g., Uber Eats, Foodpanda) provide additional channels for physical restaurants. Consumers download apps to use food delivery platforms. The physical restaurants thus have both offline and app channels to sell their products. However, do these channels feed off or eat away each other? Does feeding-off or eating-away vary across apps and restaurants? We have a dataset, including 31 stores in China, which adopt three food delivery platforms. The project is currently at the data analysis stage. We have spent more than four months (almost full time) to find a proper model. My main responsibility in this project is data analysis. I will share my learning journey of how to find a proper model, including multilevel multiple-equation models with correlated error terms, whether we should trust the coding of statistical software, endogeneity, and serial correlation.
